Adept Armor Storm Titanium Level IIIA Standalone Up-Armorable Hard Armor Plate
Wrought from precision-engineered titanium alloy, the Storm: Titanium plate is an ultra-tough add-on level IIIA body armor plate for the Storm: Foundation. Used with the Foundation, it augments protection to full RF2, ensuring protection from M855 and similar steel-cored rifle ball threats, including special threats such as the 5.45x39mm 7N6.
As a standalone plate, it will stop:
- .44 Magnum at 1440 fps
- .357 Magnum at 1400 fps
- 9mm FMJ at 1400 fps
- Edged Weapon 64 Joules
- Spike 64 Joules
The Storm: Titanium can also be used standalone as an ultra-low-profile Level IIIA/stab plate. In this role, it is substantially lighter than comparable steel “IIIA ” plates, and also offers much better protection than any soft anti-stab armor panel.

Product Type:
Titanium Body Armor
Titanium body armor is armor that utilizes a titanium alloy as its primary material. Titanium metal exhibits an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, and is highly damage tolerant, so it performs very well in light armor applications. Adept Armor is the industry leader in titanium armor.
- Modular Body Armor Plate
Modular body armor plates, a relatively new concept, consist of UHMWPE composite armor plates with removable strike-faces. They can be used without those strike faces in lower-threat environments, but can be up-armored in mere seconds should the mission call for it. The Storm System is the industry’s premier modular body armor plate system — it is the lightest, most intuitive, and most straightforward.
The Storm Titanium can be paired with the Storm Foundation, and this combination offers lightweight protection from threats such as the steel-core M855 and similar rounds with steel penetrators, in addition to lead-core and mild steel core ball rounds. The Storm Titanium can also be used as a standalone special pistol threat and stab plate.
Product Rating and Benefits:
- Level IIIA Body Armor
Level IIIA body armor is armor that complies with the NIJ 0101.06 Level IIIA specification and is rated to stop high velocity .44 Magnum and .357 Sig handgun rounds. At present, the most popular soft armor systems are rated at Level IIIA; hard armor plates are also, on occasion, rated to Level IIIA. As the .44 Magnum threat is exceptionally rare — as of 2021, it was used in only one police shooting over the previous ten years — Level IIIA soft armor has a well-deserved reputation for being over-built.
The Storm Titanium exhibits performance well beyond most IIIA armor systems, and is also extremely resistant to knives and spikes. It can truly be called a “IIIA ” armor plate.
